Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk, high-volume unit requiring at least 1 year of L&D experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Labor and Delivery unit within a high-risk, high-volume hospital setting with 4 ORs, 31 rooms/beds
  • Average daily census of 15 with 500-600 deliveries per month
  • Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
  • Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
  • Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Float required to Postpartum/Antepartum units and may include floating to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
  • Utilizes Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required; 2-3 years preferred
  • High-risk L&D experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience with patient ratios of 1:1-2
  • Skilled in circulating for C-sections, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, and newborn care including eyes and Vitamin K injections
  • Experience with medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

  • Functions in the Baby Nurse role during delivery, providing continued newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Performs circulator duties as a hard-stop requirement of the role
  • Provides newborn assessments, eye care, thigh injections, and other neonatal care in the delivery room
  • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
  • Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities
  • First-time travelers are accepted with 2 years of experience
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Radius rule of 50 miles applies to eligibility for the travel pay rate
  • Former permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
  • Compact license must be active and in hand at time of consideration
