Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Family Birthing Center team. The ideal candidate will be able to provide comprehensive care in a high-risk environment, supporting patients through the entire labor and delivery process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for expectant and postpartum mothers and newborns.
  • Circulate C-sections and demonstrate comfort in all aspects of Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP).
  • Utilize advanced fetal monitoring techniques and follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios.
  • Titrate drips as needed, including Pitocin for labor progress.
  • Work collaboratively with OB hospitalists and anesthesia staff, available 24/7.
  • Adapt to float to the Mother/Baby unit as necessary.
  • Participate actively in all shift responsibilities and maintain a readiness to manage emergency situations.

Unit Information

  • Family Birthing Center includes Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and OB services.
  • High-risk unit with couplet care, managing a monthly average of 140-165 births.
  • 12 postpartum beds, 10 labor and delivery beds, and 2 operating room suites for C-sections.
  • Assess and manage a variety of common diagnoses, including preterm labor, bleeding, and hypertension.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
  • Required certifications: ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
  • Experience in circulating C-sections is essential.
  • Obtain and maintain AWHONN-Advanced certification; STABLE certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret EKG strips for patients in PACU.

Work Schedule

This position requires night shifts of 12 hours, with a schedule that includes every other weekend and rotation through holidays. Candidates should be prepared for extra shifts as needed.

Additional Information

Scrubs will be provided. This role may involve floating to other hospitals within the region. Candidates should be familiar with GE Corometric monitors and fetal surveillance systems.
