Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 3-5 years of high-risk, high-acuity L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds and 4 ORs
  • High risk/high volume unit averaging 15 patients daily and 500-600 deliveries per month
  • Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
  • Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
  • Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and may include floating to sister facilities with Mother/Baby units
  • Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring equipment
  • Patient ratio of 1:1-2

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Required certifications: BLS and NRP
  • Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • Minimum 3-5 years of RN experience in high acuity, high-paced environment required
  • High-risk L&D experience required, 5 years preferred
  • Required Epic EMR experience
  • Current Nursys verification required with proof at submission
  • Current supervisory references required
  • Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide continued newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Must be able to circulate for deliveries and C-sections
  • Must provide newborn care including eye care, Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments
  • Skilled in high-risk delivery assistance, vaginal delivery assistance, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
  • Experience with medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate therapy
  • Experience with postpartum care including cesarean section recovery, couplet care, and postpartum hemorrhage management
  • 2 supervisory references required covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care following AWHONN guidelines
  • Serve as Baby Nurse during deliveries and circulate for C-sections as needed
  • Perform newborn assessments, eye care, Vitamin K injections, and thigh injections
  • Manage high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients including hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension cases
  • Provide pain management support including epidural, general anesthesia, and opioid administration
  • Support breastfeeding and lactation needs for postpartum patients
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles for local rate eligibility
  • Previous Providence facility employees (permanent, travel, or per-diem) must disclose location and dates worked
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and cannot live within 50 miles of the facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Pre-approved time off requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted upfront
  • Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the state
