Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a Level III high-risk perinatal unit requiring 2+ years of L&D experience, AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring certification, and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Level III high-risk perinatal unit with 19 L&D beds, 10 antepartum beds, 30 postpartum beds, 3 ORs, 2 PACU bays, and a 7-bay triage area
  • Facility manages 200-300 deliveries per month
  • Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Weekend shifts required
  • Floating to Postpartum required, as well as potential floating to sister facilities within the state
  • No on-call requirements
  • Goal staffing ratios include 1:1 in labor, 1:3 couplet care in postpartum with CNA support, and 1:2-3 in antepartum
  • Unit supported by surgical techs, CNAs, delivering providers, CRNAs, and health unit coordinators
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required, following AWHONN standards
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • NRP certification required
  • AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring certification required (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Sterile vaginal exam (SVE) competency required as a hardstop qualification
  • Experience with high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery, C-section circulation, hemorrhage/shock management, and IV therapy required
  • Experience with fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, required
  • Experience administering medications such as antihypertensives, Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, and Terbutaline required
  • Candidates with experience in facilities handling 100-200+ deliveries will be considered, with 200+ preferred
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, antepartum, and postpartum units including high-risk pregnancy management
  • Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, neonatal resuscitation, and newborn care including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
  • Support patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, preterm labor, and postpartum hemorrhage
  • Provide breastfeeding and lactation support along with postpartum discharge teaching
  • Any scrub color permitted except reddish-orange
  • Parking is facility paid
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All RTO requests must be submitted upfront; post-submission RTO requests may not be granted
  • Local candidates not accepted; candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility for standard travel rate eligibility
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
