Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Family Birthing Center. This unit specializes in Labor and Delivery (L&D), Postpartum (PP), and Obstetrics (OB). The ideal candidate will have the required certifications and experience to provide exceptional care in a high-risk environment.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: L&D (Labor and Delivery)
• Number of L&D Beds: 10
• OR Suites for C-Sections: 2
• Triage Beds: 3 OB-ED and 3 antepartum testing beds
• Postpartum Beds: 12
• Births per Month: 140-165
• Staff Ratios: 1:3-4 couplets; 1:1 to 1:2 for L&D; 1:1-3 for antepartum

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for laboring patients, postpartum patients, and newborns.
• Circulate C-sections and ensure comfort and safety for all patients throughout the labor and delivery process.
• Float to Mother-Baby and other designated areas as required.
• Titrate drips, including Pitocin, as needed.
• Read and interpret EKG strips in the PACU.
• Collaborate with OB hospitalists and attend to emergency situations as necessary.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery nursing.
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN-Advanced; STABLE certification preferred.
• Skills: Must be able to circulate C-sections and provide high-risk care. Experience with couplet care is essential.

Schedule

This position requires 12-hour night shifts, with every other weekend (EOW) rotation. Candidates will also be expected to work two of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's). The standard shift starts at 6:45 PM, with report provided at the bedside. Overtime and extra shifts are available.

Other Information

• Scrubs will be provided.
• Floating to other facilities may be required, but mid-shift floats are uncommon.
• Response time for being placed on call is 30 minutes.
