Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a CA RN license and night shift availability.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a community hospital
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • 13-week contract assignment

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
  • Experience with medication administration including antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and terbutaline
  • Experience assisting with vaginal deliveries, circulating and recovering C-sections, and performing sterile vaginal exams
  • Experience with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and ID/security banding
  • Postpartum care experience including fundus, lochia, and perineum care
  • Experience with antepartum care including obstetrical triage and external fetal monitoring (EFM)
  • Experience with pain management including epidural anesthesia and IV PCA use
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care
  • Manage antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients including high-risk conditions such as pregnancy-induced hypertension and cesarean section recovery
  • Perform continuous fetal monitoring and obstetrical triage
  • Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
  • Holiday coverage may be required, with only one holiday requested off per contract
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract
  • Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
  • Returning employees must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible to return as a traveler
