Join a leading acute-care hospital in Seattle, WA, as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN). This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with a focus on delivering exceptional care to mothers and newborns.

As a Labor and Delivery RN, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. You will function in the role of Baby Nurse during deliveries, ensuring the safety and well-being of newborns until they are transferred to postpartum care. Your expertise in high-risk scenarios will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care during labor and delivery, including monitoring fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs.
• Administer medications and perform procedures such as newborn assessments, including administering Vitamin K injections.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure adherence to AWHONN guidelines.
• Float to postpartum and antepartum units as needed, supporting a variety of patient diagnoses.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, with a strong preference for candidates with 5 years of high-risk experience.
• Current supervisory references and proof of required certifications (BLS, NRP required; ACLS, AWHONN Advanced/Intermediate preferred).
• Experience in high acuity and high pace environments is essential.
• Must pass clinical review and provide proof of current NURSYS.

This position requires working every other weekend and holidays as needed. The average daily census is 15 patients, with 500-600 deliveries per month. The unit consists of 31 beds and 4 operating rooms, ensuring a dynamic work environment.
