Description

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring CA licensure and 2 years of L&D experience.

Details

  • Labor and Delivery unit caring for labor, antepartum, mother/baby, and postpartum patients
  • Circulates for C-sections as part of care responsibilities
  • Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • No on-call requirements
  • No holiday or weekend requirements
  • No floating to other units required
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
  • EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring) experience required
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
  • Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, including forceps/vacuum extraction
  • Manage labor medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Perform newborn care duties including APGAR scoring, newborn assessments, and thermoregulation
  • Provide postpartum care including fundus, lochia, and perineum assessment
  • Support breastfeeding and lactation education for new parents
  • Skilled in fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Nurse to patient ratios generally follow AWHONN staffing guidelines
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius to be eligible for local candidate rate
  • Returning staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation before reapplying
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
  • Holiday coverage observed for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
  • Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
  • 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
  • First-time travelers are not considered for this position
