Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of L&D and postpartum experience and CA RN license.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with 277 staffed beds
  • Labor and Delivery unit with LDRP capabilities
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00), with 4x12 available upon request
  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • 36 hours of orientation provided
  • Float to like units required, including sister facilities within the state
  • Epic EMR used for charting
  • No block scheduling available

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery and postpartum experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
  • Preferred certification: AWHONN Advanced
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Preferred Trauma Level II experience
  • Skilled in labor and delivery management including vaginal delivery, C-section circulation, and high-risk delivery assistance
  • Experience with fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement and calibration, and spiral electrode placement preferred
  • Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care procedures
  • Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, and postpartum hemorrhage
  • Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within the last 3 years required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and emergency obstetric procedures
  • Perform neonatal resuscitation and newborn assessments as needed
  • Support breastfeeding and lactation education for postpartum patients
  • Scrub color for L&D RNs is provided
  • Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront; post-submission requests may not be granted
  • Floating to sister facilities within the state may be required
  • Local candidates accepted only at a lower bill rate; radius rule of 50 miles applies
  • Former Providence permanent staff may return as travelers after 3 months if outside a 50-mile radius
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
