Join our team as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) at a leading acute-care hospital in Watsonville, CA. We are looking for dedicated professionals with a passion for providing exceptional care to mothers and newborns. This is a contract position with night shifts, offering a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of families during one of their most important moments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to labor and delivery patients, including those in postpartum.
• Perform assessments, monitor fetal heart rates, and assist with various delivery methods.
• Administer medications and IV therapy as needed, including Pitocin and magnesium sulfate.
• Support mothers with breastfeeding and provide discharge education.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Patient Diagnoses: Gestational Hypertension, Preeclampsia, Diabetes, PROM/PPROM, Fetal Distress, and more.

Unit Details: The unit handles vaginal deliveries, C-sections, TOLAC, and IOL, and has a focus on the unhoused community.

Required Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN, Advanced BLS, FHM, NRP.

Skills: Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby care, Triage, External Fetal Monitoring, and more. Labor and Delivery nurses also routinely care for postpartum patients, with an average census of 6+ couplets per day.

RTO must be submitted upfront. Overtime is paid after 8 hours (per CA law) and after 40 or 48 hours on specific contracts. The call-off policy allows for 3 call-offs per 13-week assignment at no cost. Holiday and callback shifts are compensated at 1.5x and 1.4x, respectively.
