Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 3 years of L&D experience and both Kansas and Missouri or compact RN licensure in hand.

Details

• LDRP unit within an acute care hospital with 74 staffed beds
• Care spans triage, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and full couplet care
• Patient ratios of 1:1-3
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00p-7:00a), 13-week assignment
• Weekend rotation of 4-6 Sat/Sun shifts plus 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required: 1 major holiday and 1-2 minor holidays per schedule
• 2 mandatory on-call shifts per 6-week schedule
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Charting completed in Epic
• Unit handles vaginal births, C-sections, post-op GYN care, external cephalic version, and antenatal testing (NSTs, BPP by radiology)
• Facility births total under 100 per month

Requirements

• Active RN license - Missouri and Kansas or compact in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and NRP certification required; FHM, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate preferred
• Minimum 3 years of L&D experience required, with 2 years of recent in-specialty experience and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulating, and forceps/vacuum extraction
• Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care procedures including NSTs, EFM, and newborn assessments
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and terbutaline
• Skilled in fetal monitoring including IUPC placement, spiral electrode placement, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Epic charting experience required
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum nursing care within an LDRP model
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-section scrubbing, and cervical cerclage as needed
• Support newborn care including circumcision assistance, car seat education, and discharge teaching
• May be assigned charge RN duties as needed per unit
• Navy scrubs required
• Free parking available
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time off requests finalized at time of submission
• No new RTO or schedule requests permitted after offer or onsite
• Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of prior service, and former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
