Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN - Labor and Delivery with at least 2 years of L&D experience and prior travel nursing experience for a night shift position requiring NC or compact licensure.

Details

  • Labor and Delivery unit in a Level 1 nursery facility caring for patients greater than 35 weeks gestation
  • Patient population includes pre-eclampsia, GDM, oligohydramnios, GHTN, and other high-risk disorders
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required
  • Low census on-call required
  • Floating to Post Partum may be required
  • Centricity charting system experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required in hand
  • Required certifications: AWHONN Intermediate, NRP, and BLS
  • AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and maintaining IVs
  • Experience with labor and delivery management including circulating and scrubbing for C-sections
  • Experience with fetal monitoring (external and internal) and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Experience with newborn care including assessment, cord care, and discharge teaching
  • One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
  • Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, and recover/scrub for C-sections
  • Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Provide newborn care including thermoregulation, phototherapy, and metabolic screening
  • Manage pain control methods including epidural anesthesia and PCA pumps
  • Scrubs are provided
  • Orientations occur biweekly
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
  • Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
  • Candidates with prior permanent employment at Duke University Health System must disclose this history and must not have been permanent staff within the past 6 months
  • Maximum of 5-7 days RTO with contract submission
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season with no exemptions accepted
