Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk, high-volume unit requiring at least 1-3 years of high acuity L&D experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Labor and Delivery unit with 31 rooms and 31 beds
  • High risk/high volume L&D unit with 4 ORs
  • Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
  • Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OBs, Adult Recovery Services for substance recovery, and community care clinics
  • Uses Epic EMR system with electronic fetal monitoring
  • Required to float to Postpartum/Antepartum units and sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
  • Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
  • Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP
  • Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
  • Minimum 1 year of high-risk L&D experience required; 3 years preferred in high acuity, fast-paced environments
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in circulating for C-sections, assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, and forceps/vacuum extraction
  • Experience with hemorrhage/shock management and sterile vaginal exams
  • Medication administration experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, and Pitocin
  • Newborn care skills including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
  • Postpartum care experience including couplet care, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and lactation support
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required for consideration
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing continued newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Circulates for deliveries and provides newborn care including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
  • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • 1st time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Pre-approved time off is granted on a case-by-case basis
  • Former permanent staff of other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible after a 3-month separation period
  • Must be located outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate, though local candidates are accepted at a lower rate
  • May be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
