Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and charge nurse background.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit in a hospital setting with 200-300 births per month
• RN will rotate through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition duties (no post-partum)
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:00
• 13-week assignment length
• Cerner charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, NRP
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Must be able to circulate and perform transition of newborns as well as labor duties
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and infusion pump/drip monitoring required
• Onsite drug screen required upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with no exceptions for a positive result

Additional Information

• Care for antepartum, high-risk antepartum, and laboring patients including assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries
• Perform newborn care duties including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, and radiant warmer/thermoregulation management
• Administer medications including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and terbutaline
• Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and calibration
• Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Assist with C-section circulation and recovery, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock situations
• RTO must be submitted with application; some holiday coverage expected
• Pending license accepted at time of consideration but must be active before start date
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• First-time travelers considered as long as they meet experience requirements
