Description

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN with at least 2 years of recent L&D experience and Epic charting proficiency for a high-risk OB unit.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a short-term acute care hospital with 418 staffed beds
  • Unit supports high-risk OB patients and a facility birth volume of 200-300 per month
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Shift runs 1500-0300
  • Every other weekend required
  • On-call required on scheduled days if shift is cancelled
  • Floating required to Mother Baby Unit (MBU) and PSCU based on unit needs
  • May float to sister facilities including Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, and Saint Vincent
  • Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

  • Active Compact RN license required in hand at submission
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, including starting and maintaining IVs and use of infusion pumps
  • Experience with labor and delivery management including assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and recovering C-section patients
  • Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and antiseizure drugs
  • Experience with antepartum care including EFM use, NST, and sterile vaginal exams
  • Experience with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
  • Experience with postpartum care including hemorrhage management and couplet care
  • Must have a vehicle for this assignment
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
  • Care for high-risk OB patients including pre-eclampsia/eclampsia and postpartum hemorrhage cases
  • Assist with neonatal care in the delivery room, including newborn assessment and thermoregulation
  • Perform pain management support including epidural and nitrous oxide administration
  • Scrubs for OR/L&D are provided by the facility
  • No fee for parking
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and cannot be within 50 miles of the facility
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles may be accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be considered
  • Only one Providence facility submission is allowed at a time
  • Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
