Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 3 years of experience and NRP, BLS & ACLS certifications.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting in the Labor and Delivery unit
• Level 3 Trauma Center with 171 staffed beds
• Facility averages fewer than 100 births per month
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Weekend requirement of 16 shifts per contract
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs (excludes patient sitting or helping hands roles)
• No block scheduling accommodations
• Charting completed in EPIC

Requirements

• Valid Oklahoma or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• NRP, BLS, and ACLS certifications required
• AWHONN Intermediate and STABLE certifications preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
• Experience with labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, vaginal and C-section deliveries, and hemorrhage/shock response
• Medication administration experience including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
• Neonatal care skills in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Antepartum and postpartum care experience including NST, sterile vaginal exams, and Cesarean recovery
• 1 reference required within the past year from a Manager or Unit Supervisor in a relevant specialty

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery, and forceps/vacuum extraction procedures
• Perform triage of obstetrical patients and fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation
• Scrub color varies by unit
• Facility follows a zero-fault attendance policy where any missed shift is considered unexcused, with warnings issued after 2 missed shifts and possible cancellation after 3 or more
• Required to complete pre-start training modules prior to beginning the assignment
• Accepts local candidates at the same rate as travelers
• No holiday RTO permitted, with a maximum of 5 total days off allowed during the 13-week assignment
• No additional RTO permitted after submittal or while on contract
• No RTO approved the day before, day of, or day after a holiday
• Previous employment at this facility as a traveler or permanent employee is not permitted
• Minimum of two successful travel assignments required with no performance or attendance issues, first-time travelers not considered
