Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk OB assignment requiring a compact RN license and Epic charting experience.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting with 418 staffed beds
  • Labor and Delivery unit handling high-risk OB cases with 200-300 births per month
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:3 depending on acuity
  • Shift scheduled 0300-1500 with every-other-weekend requirement
  • Floating required to Postpartum and High-Risk Antepartum units, as well as to sister facilities across the region based on staffing needs
  • On-call required if a scheduled shift is cancelled
  • No block scheduling and no guaranteed 48-hour work weeks
  • Uses Epic EMR for charting

Requirements

  • Active compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required; AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Must have reliable personal vehicle for this assignment
  • Skilled in high-risk delivery, fetal monitoring, hemorrhage/shock management, and administration of medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Experience with sterile vaginal exams, EFM, and assisting with vaginal and C-section deliveries
  • 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages, including newborn assessment and neonatal resuscitation support
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery, and management of conditions such as pre-eclampsia and postpartum hemorrhage
  • Scrubs provided for L&D staff
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be considered for a local bill rate
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
