Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a critical access hospital, requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

  • Critical access hospital setting within the Labor and Delivery unit
  • Facility performs fewer than 100 births per month
  • Works Antepartum, L&D, LDRP, Mother/Baby, and Postpartum care areas
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
  • Every third weekend required
  • Floating to other units may be required
  • Centricity EMR experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active KS or compact RN license required at time of submission (no pending licenses)
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NRP
  • Minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in sterile speculum exams, sterile vaginal exams, NST, reflex checks, and EFM
  • Experience with IV therapy, medication administration, and use of infusion pumps
  • Experience assisting with vaginal deliveries, forceps/vacuum extractions, and C-section recovery
  • Experience with high-risk pregnancy, hemorrhage/shock management, and amnioinfusion
  • Knowledge of neonatal and newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and newborn assessments
  • Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage management
  • Community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care areas
  • Manage high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and surgical cases such as cervical cerclage
  • Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including radiant warmer use and ID/security banding
  • Administer medications such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, and terbutaline
  • Support breastfeeding and lactation, and provide discharge teaching to new parents
  • Manage fetal monitoring including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and IUPC placement
  • Provide pain management support including epidural anesthesia care
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • No radius restriction for eligibility
  • Block scheduling considered case by case with manager approval
