Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a high-acuity Level III perinatal unit requiring AWHONN/fetal monitoring certification and night shift availability.

Details

• High-risk perinatal unit with 19 L&D beds, 10 antepartum beds, 30 postpartum beds, 3 ORs, 2 PACU bays, and a 7-bay triage area
• Facility handles 200-300 deliveries per month
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30
• Weekend shifts required
• Floating required to Postpartum and potentially to sister facilities
• No on-call requirements
• Target staffing ratios of 1:1 in labor, 1:3 couplets in postpartum with CNA support, and 1:2-3 in antepartum
• Support staff includes surgical techs, CNAs, CRNAs, delivering providers, and health unit coordinators
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required, following AWHONN standards
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring
• AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Sterile vaginal exam (SVE) skill is a hardstop requirement for consideration
• Experience with labor and delivery management, high-risk delivery assistance, and vaginal delivery assistance required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration required
• Skills in amnioinfusion, C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management preferred
• Experience in facilities with 200+ deliveries preferred, though candidates from 100-200 delivery facilities may be considered
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, antepartum, and postpartum units in a Level II Trauma Center
• Care includes fetal monitoring, medication administration (Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, insulin drips, antihypertensives), and newborn care
• Responsibilities include assisting with high-risk deliveries, C-section recovery, and postpartum complications such as hemorrhage and pre-eclampsia
• Any scrub color permitted except reddish orange
• Facility-paid parking provided
• First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront; post-submission requests may not be accommodated
• Local candidates not accepted; 50-mile radius rule applies
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history at Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
