Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring high-risk L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• High-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services for substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum and may float to sister facilities with Mother/Baby units
• Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2
• 4 operating rooms on unit

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certification required
• ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced L&D environment required
• High-risk L&D experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in circulating for C-sections, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, and forceps/vacuum extraction
• Experience with hemorrhage/shock management, anticoagulation therapy, insulin drips, and Magnesium Sulfate therapy
• Experience functioning as Baby Nurse during delivery and providing newborn care including eyes, thighs, and assessments through transfer to postpartum
• Experience with fetal heart rate pattern recognition and external fetal monitoring
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery, continuing newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Circulates for deliveries and provides newborn care including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
• Provides postpartum care including couplet care, hemorrhage management, and care for multiple births
• Supports breastfeeding/lactation, foley catheter management, and fundus/lochia/perineum care
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Time off requests must be submitted upfront and are considered on a case-by-case basis
• May be required to float between sister facilities within the system
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility unless applying as a local
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
