Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a combined OB unit requiring ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications along with on-call availability.

Details

  • Combined unit servicing L&D (vaginal and cesarean), post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • On-call requirement of 48 hours within a 6-week block
  • Patient population includes Level 2 inpatient obstetrical and Level 2 NICU neonatal clientele, GYN/medical overflow, antepartum, observational triage, mother-baby couplet care, and border babies
  • Performs OB-related procedures including versions, IOL, cervical ripening, IUFD care, bereavement support, and cesarean sections
  • Staffing ratios vary by acuity: 1:1 for complications or active labor, 1:3 for stable antepartum, 1:1-2 for unstable antepartum, 1:3-4 for couplet care, 2:1 for deliveries, and 1:2-3 for Level 2 NICU
  • Floating outside specialty may occur, functioning as helping hands to assist assigned nurses
  • Assignment length of 13 or 26 weeks

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D experience preferred
  • Charting system experience required (any system)
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Skills required in Pitocin administration, labor and delivery management, C-section recovery, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and antepartum care/procedures
  • Obstetrical patient triage experience required
  • bCPAP skills preferred
  • Candidates with a pending license may be considered

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across L&D, post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery patients
  • Zero-tolerance THC policy in effect; medical marijuana cards not accepted
  • Drug screen required during compliance and again on day one onsite
  • Fit testing required; candidates must be clean-shaven or obtain a pre-approved medical exemption letter prior to starting
  • RTO policy based on holidays falling within the assignment: work one holiday if one falls in the assignment, one of two if two fall in the assignment, or two of three if three fall in the assignment
  • General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
  • Candidates who previously worked a permanent role at the facility within the past 24 months will not be considered
  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • First-time travelers considered only if they have 2 years of L&D experience
