Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a VA or compact RN license, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications, plus 2 years of L&D experience.
Details
- Combined unit servicing L&D (vaginal & cesarean), post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery
- Level 2 inpatient obstetrical and Level 2 NICU neonatal clientele
- GYN/medical overflow, antepartum, and observational triage patients cared for
- Mother-baby couplet care and border baby care provided
- Involved in obstetric procedures such as versions, IOL, cervical ripening, IUFD care and bereavement, and cesarean sections
- Staffing ratios vary: 1:1 for complicated or active labor, 1:3 for stable antepartum, 1:1-2 for unstable/ill antepartum, 1:3-4 for couplet care, 2:1 for delivery, and 1:2-3 for NICU Level 2 depending on condition
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- On-call requirement of 36 hours within a 6-week block
- 26-week winter contract
- If floated outside specialty, works as helping hands using general nursing skills to assist assigned nurses
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license acceptable)
- Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
- Any charting system experience accepted
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Skills in Pitocin (oxytocin) administration, labor and delivery management, C-section recovery, IV therapy/phlebotomy, antepartum care and procedures, and obstetrical triage required
- bCPAP skill preferred
Additional Information
- Provides comprehensive obstetric, antepartum, and neonatal nursing care within a combined unit
- Zero-tolerance drug policy in place; medical marijuana cards not accepted
- Drug screening required during compliance and again on first day onsite
- Fit testing required; candidates must be clean-shaven unless a provider-approved exemption letter is obtained in advance
- RTO policy tied to holidays falling within the assignment: expect to work one holiday if one falls in the assignment, one of two if two fall, and two of three if three fall
- Previous perm employees of the facility within the past 24 months are not eligible
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- First-time travelers considered only if they have 2 years of L&D experience
