We are seeking a dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at a leading acute-care hospital in Lee's Summit, MO. This contract position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing exceptional care to mothers and newborns during labor and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Labor and Delivery unit.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs using EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring).
• Assist with sterile speculum exams and perform sterile vaginal exams.
• Manage high-risk deliveries and provide support for vaginal and C-section deliveries.
• Administer medications and IV therapies as required.
• Support breastfeeding and lactation needs for new mothers.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP.
• Skills in antepartum care, fetal monitoring, and managing complications such as pre-eclampsia and multiple gestations.
• Ability to float to postpartum unit as needed for couplet care.
• Must be willing to work 4-5 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period.
• On-call requirement: 2 shifts per 6-week schedule period.

This facility houses a total of 28 beds, including 11 labor rooms and 5 triage rooms. The average daily census ranges from 7-10 patients, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 during labor and delivery. The unit also accommodates antepartum and intrapartum patients, providing a comprehensive care experience.

We welcome applications from local candidates (must reside at least 75 miles from the facility) and those with pending licenses. There are no restrictions on time off, but it should not exceed 7 days.
