Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of current L&D experience and AWHONN-Intermediate certification.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a teaching hospital with 200-300 births per month
• Care for high risk antepartum and obstetrical patients
• Nurse-patient ratios of 1:1-2 for labor patients and 1:8 for postpartum/couplets
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 18:45-7:15
• Weekend requirements of every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
• On-call requirement of 2 shifts per 6-week schedule period
• Floating required in accordance with facility policies and clinical experience
• Cerner charting experience preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or Compact) required in hand at time of submittal
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, AWHONN-Intermediate, and NRP required; NIHSS may be obtained after acceptance
• FHM certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current Labor and Delivery experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Certifications/licensure must not expire within 45 days of start date
• Skilled in fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and central line maintenance
• Experience with medication administration including anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and Magnesium Sulfate therapy
• Experience assisting with high risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, recovering C-section patients, and performing sterile vaginal exams
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols

• Provide comprehensive care for antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum patients including triage of obstetrical patients
• Assist with high risk deliveries and circulate/recover C-section patients
• RTO requests are not accommodated during major holidays or holiday weeks, including Valentine's Day, Spring Break, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Holiday RTO requests may be addressed directly with the manager after arriving onsite using the RTO form
• Candidates must live greater than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for traveler pay rate; local candidates within 75 miles may be considered at a reduced rate
• Previous permanent staff cannot return to the same campus within 24 months, but may return to a different Covenant Health campus after 12 months
• Related or married travel team members cannot be placed on the same unit
