Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN with 2+ years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and required certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NRP.

Details

  • Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
  • Facility delivers between 100-300+ births per month
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • May be required to float within the unit
  • Supports antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care in the delivery room

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced (or NCC C-EFM in lieu of AWHONN Advanced)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required, including starting and maintaining IVs
  • Experience with blood and blood product administration and venous blood draws
  • Central line (CVC/PICC) maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience with high-risk antepartum care preferred
  • Experience as a baby nurse/baby catcher preferred
  • Lactation/breastfeeding support experience preferred
  • Cervical cerclage and tubal ligation procedure experience preferred
  • Triage of obstetrical patients experience preferred
  • Spiral electrode placement and IUPC placement/calibration experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
  • Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation support
  • Manage postpartum complications including cesarean section recovery, hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
  • Circulate and recover for C-section procedures
  • Administer medications including Magnesium Sulfate and Pitocin
  • Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring with recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict processing timelines
  • Out-of-state candidates within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location; those at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of consideration, limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after a 6-month separation from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible for travel assignment at this health system
  • Previous travel experience preferred, though first-time travelers may be considered
