Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 3+ years of L&D experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital with 74 staffed beds
• LDRP unit providing labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care
• Full couplet care required across triage, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum assignments
• Patient ratios of 1:1-3
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend rotation of 4-6 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun) plus 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
• On-call requirement of 2 mandatory on-call shifts per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required including 1 major holiday and 1-2 minor holidays
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• Charting performed in Epic

Requirements

• Active RN license, Missouri or compact, required in hand at time of consideration
• Kansas license also required due to potential floating requirements
• Minimum 3 years of L&D RN experience required
• 2 years of recent in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days required for consideration
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP
• Preferred certifications: FHM, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
• Required skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, and sterile vaginal exams
• Experience with fetal monitoring including EFM, IFM, spiral electrode placement, and IUPC placement/calibration required
• Experience with high-risk medications including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, Prostaglandins, and Terbutaline required
• Newborn care skills including cord care, discharge teaching, metabolic screening, and thermoregulation required
• Postpartum care experience including fundus/lochia/perineum care, wound assessment, and management of postpartum hemorrhage required
• Experience with epidural, general anesthesia, and PCA pain management required
• Prior travel RN experience required
• Two professional references required, including one supervisor-level reference and one charge RN reference, both from within the past year

Additional Information

• Care for a diverse LDRP patient population including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and post-op GYN cases
• Perform special procedures including external cephalic version, antenatal testing (NSTs, BPP by radiology), and post-op GYN care
• Navy scrub color required
• No block scheduling accommodations available
• No local candidates accepted within 75 miles of the facility
• RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, finalized at time of submission with no changes after offer
• Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of prior assignment
• Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• No travel partners accepted
