Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift travel contract requiring 5 years of experience and SC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Labor and Delivery unit with Antepartum, Level I Nursery, and Mother/Baby areas
  • Facility performs 100-200 births per month
  • 1:2 patient ratios
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Uses Cerner EMR
  • Candidates may float within the hospital based on clinical experience

Requirements

  • Active RN license (SC or compact) required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, FHM
  • Preferred certifications: AWHONN Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced
  • 5 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Cerner charting system experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
  • Experienced in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, vaginal delivery assistance, and C-section circulation
  • Proficient in fetal monitoring including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Skilled in postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care and hemorrhage management
  • Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery, and forceps/vacuum extractions
  • Perform NST and OCT testing, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical patient triage
  • Support newborn care including assessments, ID/security banding, and cord sample collection
  • Manage pain control methods including epidural anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and PCA pumps
  • Follow baby-friendly protocols and provide breastfeeding/lactation support
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Previous staff must have a 12-month gap since last employment at this facility to be eligible
