Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN with at least 2 years of experience and active KS or Compact RN license for a high-risk L&D unit.

Details

• High-risk Labor & Delivery unit including OB Triage, Postpartum, and Level 2 Special Care Nursery
• Care for laboring patients with high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia and diabetes for gestations 34 weeks 0 days and greater
• Involves C-Sections and External Cephalic Versions
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:00 to 18:00
• 36 or 48 hour scheduling options available
• Floating to like units within scope required as needed based on facility needs

Requirements

• Active KS or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
• Preferred charting system experience: Epic
• Preferred previous charge experience
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, use of infusion pumps, and labor and delivery management
• Experience with high-risk deliveries, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, and sterile vaginal exams required
• Knowledge of fetal monitoring including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and use of external/internal fetal monitoring

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
• Support high-risk conditions including cardiac disease, diabetes, pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, and preterm labor
• Assist with pain management including epidural and general anesthesia
• Perform newborn care duties such as APGAR scoring, cord care, discharge teaching, and thermoregulation
• Provide postpartum care including fundus/lochia checks, breastfeeding support, and wound assessment
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for consideration
• Former permanent staff must have separated from employment for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Brief orientation provided for floating assignments to like units
