Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and prior travel experience.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital environment
  • 16-bed L&D unit with an average daily census of 15, plus a 6-bed L&D Triage area
  • Patient population includes neonates/infants and adults
  • Facility performs 200-300 births per month
  • Care for high-risk antepartum patients, vaginal deliveries, C-sections, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy induced hypertension
  • Performs procedures including D&C, amnioinfusion, forceps/vacuum extraction, and circulating for C-sections
  • Patient ratios range from 1:1-2
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-7:00
  • 3 weekend shifts required per contract
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • On-call requirement of 2 calls per 6 weeks for AM and PM shifts
  • Uses Epic EMR, Pyxis, and SBAR communication

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Prior travel experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skilled in fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and use of external/internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
  • Experience with high-risk delivery assistance and postpartum care for cesarean section, multiple births, and hemorrhage
  • Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Must be away from all Piedmont facilities for 1 full year before applying as a traveler if previously employed in a perm/per diem/FCSS role

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries as part of a team-based unit
  • Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and ID/security banding
  • Support patients with lactation/breastfeeding, wound care, and postpartum recovery
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with RTO blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Two supervisory references (Manager or above) are highly preferred for consideration
