Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

This position requires a dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) with Charge Nurse experience. The RN will regularly assume Charge Nurse responsibilities and will provide exceptional care in a high-risk labor and delivery unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee labor and delivery operations, ensuring patient safety and quality care.
• Coordinate patient care and collaborate with healthcare team members.
• Provide support and guidance to nursing staff, fostering a team-oriented environment.
• Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and implement interventions for expectant mothers and newborns.
• Monitor patients during labor, manage pain, and respond to emergencies as necessary.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Alaska required.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in Labor and Delivery preferred.
• Charge Nurse experience is required; candidates willing to be trained as Charge Nurse may also be considered.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced, NRP.

Work Schedule

This position will require night shifts, with options for either 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour schedules. Weekend shifts will be required every other week.

Unit Information

The unit specializes in high-risk labor and delivery, featuring:

• 10 OB Triage Rooms
• 10 Labor and Delivery Rooms
• 3 Operating Room Suites
• 4 Post-Anesthesia Care Units (PACU)

On average, there are 7 daily deliveries, but the unit can accommodate up to 14 patients during busy periods with inductions and high-risk antepartum cases.

Additional Information

The facility offers free parking and utilizes Epic for charting. This position guarantees a minimum of 60 hours over 2 weeks, though travelers may occasionally be called off for one 12-hour shift during that period.
