Thrive Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Tacoma, Washington.

Labor and Delivery Nurse (L&D RN)
General Information
Location: Tacoma, WA
Facility Level: Level II Trauma Center, Level IV NICU
Unit Information
- L & D Beds: 34
- Patient Types: High acuity including hypertension, magnesium administration, C-sections, preterm labor, and post-partum hemorrhage.
- Deliveries per Month: Up to 300
Patient Ratios
- 1:1 active labor
- 1:2 non-active laboring
- 1:2-3 antepartum, dependent on acuity
Required Certifications
- BLS
- NRP
- Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN)
Key Skills
- High acuity experience in labor management and delivery of high risk OB patients.
- Able to triage OB patients and circulate in the OR.
- Experience in cervical checks and interpreting fetal monitoring strips.
- Additional responsibilities may include assisting as a second set of hands during newborn care.
Support on the Unit
- CNA for transport, restocking, and assisting in the OR.
- Scrub Techs (LPN) who are NRP certified.
- Receptionist and Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) support available.
- Free floating Charge Nurse for support on the unit.
- Respiratory Therapists available 24/7.
- Laborist coverage 24/7 with additional medical staff as needed.
Technology and Equipment
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR): EPIC required.
- IV Pumps: Alaris CareFusion
- Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
- Fetal Surveillance Monitors: Centricity/Qx
- Epidural Pumps: CAD Solaris
- Panda Warmers and Coviden SCDs
Floating and Orientation
- Potential floating between Antepartum and Postpartum units.
- Orientation includes hospital and unit training, tailored for new nursing staff.
Scheduling Information
- Weekend rotation required, potentially variable.
- Fair holiday scheduling applicable.
- Shift times: 0700-1930, 1900-0730.
- Schedule is created in 6-week increments and released two weeks prior.
Additional Notes
- Scrubs provided by the facility must not be worn outside.
- Free parking available in designated areas.
