Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery day-shift position requiring AWHONN or NCC electronic fetal monitoring certification.

Details

  • Labor & Delivery unit caring for deliveries, circulating c-sections, antepartum patients, and newborn initial assessments
  • Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • 13-week assignment
  • Weekend rotation required
  • No call requirement
  • No floating required
  • Follows AWHONN nurse-to-patient ratio standards: 1:1 for Pitocin induction/augmentation, 1:2 for cervical ripening, 1:2-3 for antepartum and triage, and 1:1 for immediate postpartum care

Requirements

  • Active RN license (LA state or compact)
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
  • Current certification in AWHONN Intermediate FHM, AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
  • 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • Perinatal RN Residency or recent perinatal setting experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process across assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
  • Administer medications and treatments according to protocol and monitor for side effects and effectiveness
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
  • Assess patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education
  • Navy blue or pink scrubs required
  • New hires are precepted by a designated staff member with required competency validations completed during onboarding
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
  • Previous CHRISTUS Health System employees must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a travel assignment
