Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

A Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse is needed for a night shift position, responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in labor and during delivery. This role requires experience in a high-risk environment and the ability to circulate C-sections.

Key Responsibilities

• Circulate in the operating room for C-sections.
• Provide care for patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
• Administer and titrate various drips, including oxytocin and magnesium sulfate.
• Float to postpartum units as needed.
• Participate in a self-scheduling process while being flexible to fill in gaps as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in high-risk Labor and Delivery.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP.
• Ability to read and interpret fetal monitor strips.

Unit Information

• 22 Labor and Delivery beds.
• 2 Operating Room suites designated for C-sections.
• 7 Triage beds and 34 Postpartum beds.
• Averaging 8-12 births per day.
• Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-patient ratios as much as possible.

Working Conditions

• Shift length: 12 hours from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• Weekend and holiday work required.
• Call requirement of 18 hours every 6 weeks.

Orientation and Training

Orientation includes one shift of department-specific training. Clinicians are expected to participate in orientation in person, regardless of any remote modules.

Additional Notes

There is a Level III NICU available; however, a neonatologist is not in-house 24/7. Anesthesiology services are available continuously. Surgical techs are present to assist on the unit.
