Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our clinical team. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment with diverse patient demographics, providing critical care during labor and delivery, and supporting postpartum patients. The ideal candidate will be proficient in circulating C-sections in the operating room (OR) and have experience managing high-risk labor and delivery cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to labor and delivery patients.
• Circulate in C-sections and assist the surgical team as needed.
• Utilize electronic fetal monitoring and assess fetal heart tones.
• Administer medications and titrate IV drips, including oxytocin and magnesium sulfate.
• Support postpartum care and transition of patients post-delivery.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Float to postpartum units as required.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.
• Minimum of two years of experience in high-risk labor and delivery.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP.
• Proficient in circulating C-sections in the OR.
• Ability to read and interpret fetal monitor strips independently.

Work Schedule

Shifts are primarily 7 PM to 7:30 AM, with potential weekend and holiday requirements. Self-scheduling is available, but staff may be required to fill in shifts as needed. An on-call schedule is part of the responsibilities, with a rotation of 18 hours of call every six weeks.

Unit Information

• Labor and Delivery Unit with 22 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, and 7 triage beds.
• 34 postpartum beds available.
• Average of 8-12 births per day.
• Level III NICU with in-house pediatric nurse practitioners and anesthesiology support available 24/7.

• Orientation will occur with expectations for attendance in-state during the scheduled week.
• Utilization of EPIC charting system.
