Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring AWHONN fetal monitoring and NRP certification in a busy acute care unit.

Details

• Acute care Labor & Delivery unit with 12 LD beds, 2 C-section OR suites, 4 triage beds, and 16 postpartum beds
• Unit averages 160-200 births per month
• Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
• RNs circulate and perform their own C-sections; no titratable drips required
• OB/Neonatologist and Anesthesia in house 24/7
• Surgical techs available on the unit; no monitor techs, so RNs must read their own fetal strips
• Uses Watch Child for fetal monitoring and EPIC as the charting system
• Night shift schedule (7p-7a) with modified self-scheduling
• Every other weekend required for full-time staff
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating to Mom/Baby required on a rare basis
• No call or standby requirement

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required, active at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years of L&D nursing experience required
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• State license verification and Nursys verification required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in Labor & Delivery, including circulating and performing own C-sections
• Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment
• Scrub color is royal blue
• Unit-specific orientation provided (12 hours)
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible
• Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
