Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

General Information

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for our Labor and Delivery unit. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment committed to providing exceptional care for mothers and newborns.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 9 LDRP beds, 1 OBED bed, 4 NICU beds, 1 OR suite
• Patient Ratios:
  • 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections
  • 1:3 for couplet care
  • 1:1 for newborns until stable
  • 1:3 for NICU intermediate care (2 NICU nurses required in the unit if there are patients)
• Unit Staffing Description: No techs or unit secretaries available
• Type of Equipment: CPN Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologists, bili-blankets, PCA pumps
• Documentation System: Meditech and CPN
• Scheduling Requirements: Full-time (3 shifts per week), rotating weekends and holidays, PRN staff to fill gaps
• Floating Policy: Staff may be required to float to other units within the facility as needed
• Patient Experience Requirements: Daily rounding on all patients and safety rounding

Qualifications

• Must Have: Experience in Labor and Delivery, including labor and recovery of mothers and assessment of newborns. Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other obstetric emergencies is preferred.
• Advanced Skills: Fetal monitoring education and experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil)
• Procedures Performed on Unit: C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, vacuum or forceps-assisted deliveries
• Certifications Required: BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring training

Dress Code

Pink and/or brown scrubs are required in accordance with the infant security policy for the unit.
