Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our maternity care team in Salt Lake City, UT. This role requires an experienced professional who is capable of managing laboring patients and providing high-quality care during a range of obstetric scenarios.

Unit Information

  • Number of Beds: 15 labor rooms, 3 bed triage bay, 2 ORs
  • Staff Composition:
    • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 RNs, 1 PCT/Scrub Tech, and 1 PCT/Clerk
    • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 1 PCT/Scrub Tech, and 1 PCT/Clerk on some shifts
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 for early labor/antepartum/triage; 1:2 or 1:3 for other cases
  • Equipment:
    • Electronic fetal monitors
    • Telemetry fetal monitoring
    • Monica Novii wireless fetal monitoring
    • Alaris IV pumps
    • Belmont rapid infusers
    • Ranger blood and fluid warming systems
    • Vein finder device
    • Hugs infant security system
    • Maternal telemetry monitoring

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Comfortable managing laboring patients, high-risk pregnancies, induction and augmentation of labor
  • Proficient in fetal monitoring, performing vaginal deliveries, and immediate postpartum care
  • Experience in circulating Cesarean sections and managing obstetric emergencies preferred
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN preferred)
  • Strong assessment skills and the ability to communicate effectively with providers and team members
  • Experience with electronic medical records (Epic) is expected
