Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery / LDRP

Location: Sacramento, CA Area

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced L&D / LDRP Registered Nurse for a 12-hour night shift travel assignment. The Family Birth Center (FBC) operates as a high-risk unit handling 140–165 births monthly. Candidates must be comfortable managing full-spectrum couplet care from admission to discharge and be fully qualified to circulate C-sections.

Key Contract Details

  • Shift: 12-Hour Nights (Starts at 06:45) | 36 Guaranteed Hours/Week
  • Schedule: Every Other Weekend (EOW) | First to Float | 30-Minute Call Response Time
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s)
  • Floating: Required to float to Mother-Baby (MB) or other Sacramento-area facilities as needed
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Scrubs: Provided on-site

Unit Details & Ratios

  • Capacity: 10 L&D Beds, 12 Postpartum Beds, 3 OB-ED Triage Beds, 2 On-Unit OR Suites
  • AWHONN Ratios: L&D (1:1 to 1:2), Couplets (1:3 to 1:4), Antepartum (1:1 to 1:3)
  • Coverage: 24/7 OB Hospitalist and Anesthesia in-house; 24/7 Neonatologist on call with daily rounds; OB Surgical Techs on unit

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide full-spectrum care for high-risk conditions, including preterm labor, preeclampsia/hypertension, inductions, and antepartum bleeding.
  • Circulate surgical cases in the unit's dedicated C-section OR suites.
  • Titrate set-rate and titratable drips (Pitocin).
  • Read and interpret maternal EKG strips in the PACU.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certifications (Required): BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN-Advanced (STABLE preferred)
  • Licensure: Active state RN License at time of submission
  • Documentation: Valid Driver's License copy and 2 supervisor references (1 within 12 months, 1 within 3 years; Charge Nurse references accepted)
  • Exclusion Criteria: Cannot have been directly employed (FT, PT, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past 12 months. (Outside agency PRN experience is acceptable).
