Job Summary
Post Partum Nurse (Labor and Delivery/Pregnancy & Post Partum) for a facility in the designated area. This role involves providing comprehensive postpartum care to new mothers and their newborns, supporting maternal and neonatal health, and assisting with lactation and neonatal monitoring. The position requires specialized skills in neonatal and maternal care, with a focus on safety, education, and patient comfort.
Job Details
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in a hospital setting.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state where care is provided.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated ability to perform electronic fetal monitoring.
- Demonstrated IV skills and ability to perform lab draws.
- Demonstrated knowledge of high-risk medication administration (Magnesium, Oxytocin, Insulin).
- Demonstrated ability to perform Urine Point of Care testing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of capillary blood glucose testing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of IStat device usage.
- Demonstrated ability to perform adult cardiac monitoring.
- Demonstrated knowledge of newborn monitors including pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability to perform heel sticks and venipuncture on newborns.
- Demonstrated knowledge of newborn medication including ability to perform IV administration and maintenance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Bili-blankets/lights.
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiant warmers.
- Demonstrated ability to support gynecologic teaching and postpartum bladder training.
- Demonstrated ability to support maternal-newborn teaching.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of labor and delivery experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of postpartum experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of medical/surgical nursing experience.
