Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced IR RN with cath lab and IABP experience for a 13-week acute care assignment in a Level 2 trauma center.

Details

  • Acute care setting within a Level 2 trauma center
  • Interventional Radiology unit featuring 7 total suites (4 Cath Lab/EP and 3 IR)
  • Over 20 combined cases per day across all rooms
  • Patient population includes port placements, liver biopsies, IVC placements, g-tube placements, PICC and central line placements, and neuro cases (coiling, thrombectomy, embolizations)
  • Daily staffing includes 1 RN and 2 techs in IR, with anesthesia support for neuro cases
  • Uses Cerner and Merge EMR systems (facility transitioning to Epic)
  • Schedule consists of 4 ten-hour shifts per week (0700-1730) with a rotating day off; 5x8-hour shifts (0700-1530) may be considered
  • Weeknight call rotation approximately once every 3 weekdays
  • Weekend call rotation approximately once every 3 weekends (Friday-Monday)
  • STEMI call team includes 1 RN and 3 techs
  • Call response time is 30 minutes
  • No floating required

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
  • Minimum 2 years of cath lab experience required
  • IABP experience required
  • BSN not required

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include verifying orders and consent, performing head-to-toe assessments, patient education, room setup, circulating cases, administering moderate sedation, assisting anesthesia providers, continuous hemodynamic monitoring, and documentation
  • Unit is led by 2 team leads who manage scheduling and staffing
  • Department-specific orientation includes 2-3 full days of training and shadowing, followed by buddy call; no call required during the first week, buddy-supported call in week 2, then independent call thereafter
  • May be required to take holiday call
  • Scrubs are provided; candidates may wear their own scrub caps
  • All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
  • Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, with a reduced travel rate
  • Previous permanent employees of this facility are not eligible unless their end date is at least 6 months prior to application
