Description

American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist - Special Procedures with recent IR/Hybrid OR experience for a 13-week contract in Charleston, SC.

Details

  • Special Procedures department within a hospital setting
  • Mon-Fri schedule, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 7:30 AM-4:00 PM
  • May float to a sister hospital nearby as needed
  • On-call requirement of one week every 4th week
  • Uses Cerner for charting

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a radiologic technologist, or at least 1 year of experience in Special Procedures/Vascular Interventional Radiology
  • Recent IR/Hybrid OR experience required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals
  • ARRT Radiography (R) Certification required
  • BLS certification through AHA required
  • South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification required
  • Active SC or compact license required, if applicable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to perform and teach Special Procedures exams to produce diagnostic quality films
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations

Additional Information

  • Perform Special Procedures under medical supervision of certified radiologists, assisting with procedures as needed
  • Supervise student radiologic technologists assigned to them
  • Instruct and prepare patients for imaging procedures and assist with informed consent
  • Communicate with radiologists and family members regarding procedures and discharge instructions
  • Practice radiation safety following ALARA principles and DHEC/TJC guidelines
  • Support imaging team through record maintenance and cross-department assistance as needed
  • Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
  • Returning travelers may stay on assignment up to one calendar year from initial start date, then must take a 30-60 day break before returning
