Special Procedures Technologist

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Special Procedures Technologist to perform imaging procedures under the medical supervision of certified radiologists. This role requires the ability to interpret and execute established protocols efficiently, while also maintaining a strong focus on patient care and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform imaging procedures accurately and efficiently, following established protocols under the direction of radiologists.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to student Radiologic Technologists assigned to the team.
  • Ensure the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures, employing age-appropriate care practices.
  • Obtain accurate written orders for procedures, and manage time effectively to meet quality, quantity, and timeliness expectations.
  • Instruct and prepare patients for imaging procedures, ensuring they understand the process and assisting in obtaining informed consent.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and their families regarding discharge instructions and procedural information.
  • Input correct orders, diagnoses, and clinical histories into the computer system; maintain effective communication with radiologists regarding procedures.
  • Adhere to departmental safety policies and procedures, practicing good radiation protection in accordance with ALARA principles.
  • Participate in the clinical education of student technologists, teaching them to produce satisfactory diagnostic exams.
  • Help maintain departmental records, reports, and files while assisting team members across various sections as needed.
  • Exhibit flexibility, accountability, and initiative to improve departmental operations and support project goals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a Radiologic Technologist or at least 1 year in Special Procedures/Vascular Interventional Radiology.
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals.
  • Certifications:
    • ARRT Radiography (R) Certification
    • South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification
    • BLS through the American Heart Association
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • Completion of an AART accredited Vascular Interventional Radiology Program
    • AART VI Radiology Certification

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to perform and teach special procedures effectively.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment and imaging technologies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and medical information.

Work Schedule:

This position operates Monday through Friday, with hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The role may require floating to other facilities as needed.
