Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring neuro and nurse sedation experience.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting in the Interventional Radiology unit
  • Unit features 2 IR suites, including a hybrid room shared with the cath lab for neuro cases
  • Average of 8 cases per day across body, PA, and neuro procedures
  • Patient population is primarily adults 18+, with rare pediatric cases aged 12-17
  • Common procedures include embolization, Y90, neuro and carotid stent placement, stroke intervention, epistaxis management, nephrostomy tube placement, port placement, trans-jugular liver biopsy, G/GJ tube placement, AVF/fistula procedures, paracentesis assistance, cardiac CT, abscess drains, and bone marrow procedures
  • RN provides care through preop, intraop, and postop phases of IR procedures
  • Responsibilities include IV starts and nurse sedation
  • Uses Epic EMR and Phillips equipment
  • Schedule consists of 4x10-hour day shifts
  • Weekend shifts available as needed, with ability to pick up partial weekend hours
  • Call is optional with a 30-minute response time requirement when accepted
  • Floating to RN pain management required once weekly for pre/post care only, with separate orientation provided

Requirements

  • Active RN license (ID or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of IR experience required
  • Neuro experience including strokes and carotid procedures required
  • Nurse sedation experience required
  • IV insertion experience required
  • Valid driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

  • Works alongside charge nurse, nurse manager, and medical imaging supervisor
  • Interventionalists are in-house during the day with on-call coverage at night
  • 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
  • Hospital-provided scrubs required, with a change required upon arrival and shoes left at the facility
  • No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests accommodated
  • Core staff are scheduled first, with travelers added to fill remaining shifts
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least one year before applying for this travel assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Providers on this unit are described as younger and collaborative
