Description
American Traveler is seeking an Interventional Radiology RN with neuro experience (thrombectomies, aneurysm coils, carotid stents) and a current AL or compact RN license for a 13-week contract.
Details
- Interventional Radiology unit with 7 pre/post bays and 2 procedural suites
- Outpatient and inpatient cases including biopsies, UFEs, kyphoplasties, port placements, diagnostic angiograms, arterial and venous interventions, IVC placement, venous and neurological thrombectomies, coiling, aneurysm rupture repair, paracentesis, and thoracentesis
- Patient ratios of 1:1 in procedure rooms and up to 1:3 in pre/post area
- EMR: Cerner; IV pumps: Plum 360; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Spacelabs
- Schedule of 4x10-hour day shifts weekly with a rotating day off, 0630-1630
- On-call required typically every 4th weekend and one night during the week as part of a call team
- Floating limited to other procedural areas where skillset applies, such as cath lab pre/post area
- Unit staffed with a charge nurse, 1 RN and 2-3 techs per room
Requirements
- Active AL or compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of experience
- Required skills include ICU care, moderate sedation, arterial line management, medication titration, and chest tube care
- Must have neuro experience including thrombectomies, aneurysm coils, and carotid stents
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in procedure rooms and pre/post areas for a variety of interventional radiology procedures
- ICU RN or additional RN support provided in the room for high-acuity ICU patients
- Orientation includes 2 shifts on the unit and 1-2 shifts in education/onboarding
- Holiday coverage required for one winter holiday (Christmas, Thanksgiving, or New Year's) and one summer holiday (July 4th, Memorial Day, or Labor Day), applied equally to core and travel staff
- Time off requests are approved by the manager
- Scrubs may be any color, with green scrubs provided for procedures
- Parking available in assigned hospital deck areas
- Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered for a travel assignment
