Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring neuro experience and a current AL or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Interventional Radiology unit of a Level II Trauma Center with a Level III NICU and Primary Stroke Center
  • Unit includes 7 pre/post bays and 2 procedural suites
  • Patient population includes outpatient and inpatient cases such as biopsies, UFEs, kyphoplasties, port placements, diagnostic angiograms, interventional arterial and venous procedures, IVC placement, venous and neurological thrombectomies, coilings, aneurysm rupture repair, paracentesis, and thoracentesis
  • Patient ratios are 1:1 in procedure rooms and up to 1:3 in pre/post areas
  • Utilizes Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
  • 10-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week, starting at 6:30 AM
  • Unit is open for routine procedures Monday through Friday from 0630-1630 and available for emergencies 24/7
  • On-call responsibilities typically include every 4th weekend and one night during the week, staffing dependent
  • Floating limited to other procedural areas where skillset applies, such as cath lab pre/post area
  • Supported by a charge nurse on the unit

Requirements

  • Active RN license (AL or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Neuro experience required
  • Skills required include ICU care, moderate sedation, arterial line management, medication titration, and chest tube management
  • Minimum of 1 year of travel experience accepted; first-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of experience

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care across a range of interventional radiology procedures for both outpatient and inpatient populations
  • Orientation includes 2 shifts on the unit and 1-2 shifts in education/onboarding
  • Holiday coverage required equally between core and travel staff, with 1 winter holiday (Christmas, Thanksgiving, or New Year's) and 1 summer holiday (July 4th, Memorial Day, or Labor Day)
  • Scrubs may be any color; green scrubs provided when in procedures
  • Parking available in assigned hospital areas or parking deck
  • Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
  • Former core staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
