Registered Nurse (RN) - Interventional Radiology

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Interventional Radiology (IR) to join our dynamic team. This position involves providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing various interventional procedures while ensuring safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer conscious sedation and manage sedation closely.
• Chart and maintain detailed records of patient care before, during, and after procedures.
• Circulate in the procedural area and assist with pre and post-procedure assessments.
• Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to assist colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical nursing setting.
• Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).
• Experience with moderate sedation is required.

Unit Information

• Unit type: Interventional Radiology.
• Number of procedure suites: 2.
• Average cases per day: 5-10.
• Common patient diagnoses include inpatient, outpatient, and emergent cases such as Stroke Thrombectomy, Embolizations, and various invasive procedures.

Schedule and Shifts

• Shift Length: 8 and 10-hour shifts available.
• Typical shifts include 2x10 hour shifts and 2x8 hour shifts or all 8s, from 0700-1530 and 0600-1630.
• Team-based scheduling is utilized, with schedules posted 17 days in advance for 6 weeks at a time.
• Weeknight requirements: 1-2 days per week.
• Weekend responsibilities: On-call every third weekend.
• Holiday responsibilities: Every other holiday.

Orientation and Training

• Comprehensive orientation program lasting one week, including classroom instruction and lab practice.
• Required equipment includes a radiation badge, which must be in hand prior to the start date.

Additional Notes

• Scrub color and dress code will be provided by the facility.
• Bring a lock for personal lockers and hospital-designated footwear.
