The role specifically focuses on providing care in an interventional radiology and cardiology environment. The patient population consists of those requiring invasive studies related to cardiology or radiology. The technologist will assist the physician in all procedures, providing a valuable service to both the patient and the healthcare team. Key responsibilities include administering contrast material as requested, monitoring patient reactions, and maintaining a sterile field during procedures. The technologist also checks for correct patient and chart identification, compiles pertinent clinical information, and documents accurately. Moreover, the role involves explaining procedures to patients while ensuring their comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality. Additional tasks include assisting with inventory and supplies, instructing new staff, and fulfilling on-call duties as needed.
