Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Community Hem/Onc Infusion position requiring active OR license and 2 years of oncology experience.

Details

  • Work in an outpatient Community Hematology/Oncology infusion setting across a network of five clinics (Beaverton, NW Portland, Gresham, East Portland, and Tualatin)
  • Adult hematology and general medical oncology patient population
  • RN navigator role providing patient education and care coordination
  • 4x10 hour day shifts, 7:00 AM-5:30 PM, Monday-Sunday variable schedule
  • Some weekend commitments required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Rare floating may be required among the five clinic locations, with preference given to traveler's residence when possible
  • Patient ratio of 1:4

Requirements

  • Active OR RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
  • OCN certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of ambulatory infusion experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, infusions, and port accessing/management
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration (IV push, continuous infusion, oral) and related safety protocols
  • Knowledge of oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, and sepsis
  • Experience recognizing and managing chemotherapy-related symptoms and side effects
  • Skilled in central line and PICC line care
  • Current COVID-19 vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, symptom management, and psychosocial support
  • Educate patients and families on treatment, side effects, and disease management
  • Care for patients with a range of cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, lymphoma, leukemia, and multiple myeloma, among others
  • Utilize isolation precautions, neutropenic precautions, and appropriate PPE
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
  • May be required to float to an affiliate hospital nearby based on department needs
  • Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
  • Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months prior to returning as a traveler
  • Requested time off must be submitted upfront and limited to no more than 2 weeks
  • First-time travelers may be considered based on position details
