Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, in hand at the time of submission
• At least 2 years of acute-care Registered Nurse experience
• Recent medical-surgical and telemetry nursing experience
• Previous float pool nursing experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers are not being considered for this float pool assignment
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• EPIC charting experience required
• Ability to float among multiple acute-care units and care for varied patient populations
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients across medical-surgical, telemetry, intermediate care, rehabilitation, and medical-pediatric units.
• Care for patients with acute surgical, orthopedic, neurologic, cardiac, respiratory, renal, detoxification, hospice, and post-procedural needs.
• Monitor and interpret remote telemetry, verify rhythms, and promptly communicate changes in patient condition.
• Manage patients requiring chest tubes, dialysis-related care, CPAP/BiPAP at established home settings, and other acute-care interventions within scope of practice.
• Administer medications and manage therapies according to established protocols, including heparin and selected intermediate-care infusions.
• Complete thorough patient assessments, medication administration, care planning, patient education, and EPIC documentation.
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapists, nursing assistants, rehabilitation staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Adapt quickly to unit assignments and maintain high standards of patient care in a float pool nursing environment.
• Participate in unit orientation and follow department policies, safety standards, and infection-prevention practices.
