Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac/Telemetry stepdown unit requiring 2+ years of recent cardiac/tele experience and WI or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • 29-bed Cardiac/Telemetry/Dialysis stepdown unit in an acute care, Level 2 trauma hospital
  • Cares for cardiac medical and surgical patients including post cath lab (stent, pacemaker, ICD, Watchman, MitraClip, TAVR), post cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements), Afib, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, and bradycardia with temporary pacemakers
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 through 2300 and 1:5-6 on nights after 2300
  • Nurse aide ratios of 1:10 on days, 1:10-12 on evenings, and 1:15 after 2300
  • 24/7 central telemetry monitoring unit reads strips for all non-critical care patients
  • Titrates drips including Nitroglycerin, Heparin, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Bumex, and Dobutamine (no vasopressors)
  • RT available 24/7 for nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP, BiPAP, and Vapotherm; RNs responsible for incentive spirometry
  • Charge RN takes a modified patient assignment
  • Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic
  • 12-hour night shift schedule
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Floating required as needed based on unit census
  • Fri/Sat/Sun shift option available
  • No self-scheduling; block scheduling used if it meets unit needs
  • No call or standby requirement outside of extra shift opportunities

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a busy hospital setting
  • Experience with post-procedural cath lab patients required, including management of TR band compression devices
  • Experience managing chest pain and post cardiac surgical patients required
  • 2 professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a peer or supervisor

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care to a cardiac medical/surgical patient population including post-procedural and post-surgical cardiac patients
  • Titrate cardiac drips as part of daily patient care
  • No scrubs provided and no specific scrub color required
  • Unit orientation includes one shift of HR onboarding and one shift on the unit
  • All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
  • Candidates who previously worked for the facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
  • Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility are considered, at a reduced pay rate
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
